For us Americans, good meat is hard to come by in Trieste, mostly because Italian meat has a much lower fat content than we are used to. People will tell you to drive to Slovenia to buy good meat but I have yet to find a good source there. At Macelleria Igor, I have found the staff very helpful in pointing me to the best cuts. and they advise me on what meat not to buy (flank and skirt for example which in Italy is very tough). They will also make special orders for you like baby back ribs (not an easy cut to find) they will fill your order given 24 hr notice. They also sell beautiful farm fresh eggs and ready to cook meatloaves, stuffed poultry breasts, meatballs and several varieties of breaded veggies for frying on the side. They take Bancomat (credit/debit cards — a rarity) and phone orders.
Prendono Bancomat e ordini telefonici.
