This very well-stocked and fascinating Museum is dedicated to the two World Wars, and it’s existence is thanks to avid military collector Diego De Henriquez (b.1909-d.1974) whose family sold his massive collection to the city in 1983. The collection boasts 2800 weapons (we’re talking tanks, Howitzers, bazookas, military vehicles, guns, shells, grenades, brass knuckles…etc.) 24.000 photographs, 287 diaries (38,000 pages), 12,000 books, 2600 posters and fliers, 500 prints, 470 maps, 30 archival collections, 290 music documents, 150 paintings and a film archive of 250 reels that have been restored. There is a beautiful collection of wartime posters, rations books, recruiting & propaganda materials. A section dedicated to games and toys depicting the military and war is to open soon. The museum is in the former barracks Duca delle Puglie just outside the center of the City and next door to the Natural History Museum.

Questo Museo, molto ben fornito e affascinante, è dedicato alle due guerre mondiali, e la sua esistenza è grazie al famoso collezionista bellico Diego De Henriquez (n.1909-m.1974) la cui famiglia ha venduto la sua vasta collezione alla città di Trieste nel 1983. La collezione vanta 2800 armi (carri armati, obici, bazooka, veicoli militari, armi, bombe, granate, tirapugni … ecc.) 24.000 fotografie, 287 diari (38.000 pagine), 12.000 libri, 2600 manifesti e volantini, 500 stampe, 470 mappe, 30 fondi archivistici, 290 documenti musicali, 150 dipinti e una cineteca di 250 bobine che sono stati restaurati. C’è una bellissima collezione cartaceo di manifesti di reclutamento, buoni, cartoline, e propaganda. Ora in fase di allestimento vi e’ una sala dedicata a giochi e giocattoli raffiguranti i militari e la guerra. Il museo si trova nella ex caserma Duca delle Puglie appena fuori dal centro della città e accanto al Museo di Storia Naturale.
