A jewel in the heart of Trieste, the Museum of Asian Art narrarates the link between Trieste and the Far East first established in 1700s when the ships of LLoyd Adriatico first sailed through the Suez Canal to reach the shores of India, China and Japan. Part of the collection is a gift of the noted Triestine geophysicist and mountain climber (K2,Hindu Kush & Pamir) Antonio Marussi who was part of an expedition to Karakorum in 1954 and brought back sculptures from Gandahara dating back to the 1st and 4th Century AD. The Museum houses 4 floors of artifacts from the east; Chinese Silks and religious objects, Japanese Porcelains, Kabuki, Prints, Instruments of War and a lovely collection of Japanese kites.

Un gioiello che si trova nel cuore di Trieste , il Civico Museo d’Arte Orientale e’ la narrazione dei rapporti tra Trieste e l’Oriente, avviati nel ’700 e sviluppatisi nell’800, quando le navi del Lloyd Austriaco, partite da Trieste e superato il Canale di Suez, raggiunsero le coste lontane dell’India, Cina e Giappone. Una parte della collezione è un dono del noto triestino geofisico e alpinista ( K2 , Hindu Kush e del Pamir ) Antonio Marussi che faceva parte di una spedizione in Karakorum nel 1954- a lui sono dovute le sculture Gandahara risalenti al 1 ° e 4 ° secolo dC . Il Museo ospita 4 piani di reperti e oggetti ; Sete cinesi e oggetti religiosi , porcellane giapponesi, reperti del teatro Kabuki , stampe, strumenti di guerra e una bellissima collezione di aquiloni giapponesi.
