Trieste is a city that loves the Sea: It is evident from the many boats one sees every day out on the Gulf, the active commercial and passenger ports, the daily ritual of its citizens bidding goodnight to the sun on the Molo Audace.

The Civico Museo del Mare is considered one of the leading Maritime Museums in Europe tracing the rich maritime history of Trieste dating back from Roman times to the Austro-Hungarian Empire and Maria Theresa of Austria, as well as the history of the port of Trieste throughout WWs 1 & 2. There are rooms dedicated to famous inventors like Ressel who invented the propellor and Gugliemo Marconi who invented wireless telegraphy and the radio, including the wireless machine from which the FIRST telegraph transmission ever was sent. The Museum has a vast collection of complex and detailed model ships and collections of all kinds of navigational equipment and tools, from every era. There are  also wonderful dioramas detailing the types of fishing that is conducted still today in Trieste that are sure to interest visitors of all ages.

Ci sono sale dedicate agli inventori famosi come Ressel che invento’ l’elica e Gugliemo Marconi che invento’ la telegrafia senza fili e la radio.  Troverete qui il tasto telegrafo originale usato nella prima trasmissione. Ci sono modelli complessi e dettagliati di navi e collezioni di tutti i tipi di attrezzature e strumenti di navigazione di ogni epoca. Inoltre ci sono diorami meravigliosi che dettagliano i tipi di pesca che si svolgono ancora oggi a Trieste che sicuramente affascineranno ospiti di tutte le età.
