The Natural History Museum of Trieste actively serves the community both as an expositional and educational center as well as a research center. Its vast collections are exhibited both in turn of the century wooden curio cabinets and also in a more modern, interactive manner. The first rooms of the Museum were designed specifically to show the typical Italian tradition of “scientific cabinets”, with original furnishings and objects in the tradition of the “rooms of wonders” (Wunderkammer).
The Museum is also home to “Antonio” (Tethyshadros insularis Dalla Vecchia, 2009), one of the most complete dinosaurs ever found in the world, which is proudly displayed among other artifacts found at the site of the Fisherman’s Village (Duino, Trieste) , the only Dinosaur site in Italy.

Si tratta del Museo di Storia Naturale di Trieste, che tutt’ora serve Trieste sia come centro espositivo ed educativo, ma anche come un’attivo centro di ricerca. Le sue vaste collezioni sono in parte esposte da fare ricordare l’origine degli studi scientifici ma anche in maniera moderna ed interattiva. La prima parte del museo e’ stato progettato proprio per ricreare le Wunderkammer del XIX secolo, con arredi e oggetti originali; da un lato, un luogo per lo studio dei campioni scientifici, con materiali di confronto, libri e strumenti antichi, mentre sul lato opposto, una parte espositiva.
Il Museo è anche dove si trova “Antonio” (Tethyshadros insularis Dalla Vecchia, 2009), uno dei dinosauri più completi mai trovato nel mondo, trovato al Villaggio del Pescatore (Duino, Trieste), l’unico sito di dinosauri in Italia.
